They have just been released, and what a reception!! The Rustic Red, a huge favorite with everybody is finally in the tasting room and ready for you. The '07 Rustic Red took the spotlight last year, when it was decleared the best dry red wine in Michigan and received Double Gold at the Michigan Wine and Spirits Competition. Will the '08 vintage be as good? Come and taste for yourself!

Also, new to Longview Winery is the Rustic Rose. This wonderful Leelanau summer wine is strawberry forward and kiwi fruit in the back of the palate. We are open 7 days a week during the summer months, so stop by any time.

So it is still just February and a pretty slow time for our tasting room, which is only open from 12:00 to 5:00m on Saturdays in the winter. But while most people order their wine on the web site, we do get quite a few visitors on these Saturdays. Like a friend of mine said, "in Michigan we drink wine year round". Winter on the Leelanau Peninsula can be stunningly serene and quiet or violently windy, cold, and frigid, but always beautiful. To our brave cold weather visitors, we love being able to really spend time with you. The wine trail is a different experience every season, and this is just a wonderful time to visit if you enjoy a slow pace and non-crowded tasting rooms. We have the best conversations. Here is to good stories, great wine, and to having the time to enjoy both.
